About

Hi there!  Welcome to our site!  Jeff and I were married in April of 2009 and are blessed to be able to work together at something we love.  JL Keeney Photography is a full service company specializing in weddings and portraiture. We offer albums, canvases, standouts, and lots of other really cool things.  You’ll see them all when you come to meet us!

We stay busy with our three children.  You’ll see a lot of them as you peruse our site : )  Wilson is six and loves, I mean LOVES, trains.  He just finished Kindergarten, which means I’ll be able to help him with his homework for about four more years.  You wouldn’t believe what they’re learning in Kindergarten these days!  Katie is our little princess and turned four this year.  She loves everything girly.  Dress up, dolls, cooking, dresses, you name it, she’s all about it.  Asher is the newest and arrived the day after Valentines Day.  Daddy was hoping Asher would be a V-day baby because he proposed to me on Valentines Day, but Asher had other plans.  He did start coming on Valentine’s, but he was like his mama (guilty!) and was four hours late.  Wilson and Katie are a great big brother/sister and just can NOT wait until Asher is old enough to play with them.  Our kids are really wonderful and we are so thankful for them.  As you can see, I have a thing about my kids.  They’re just so cute!

In addition to the three children we have a cat and a dog.  Whiskers, the cat, thinks he runs the place. Seriously.  Kita, our Australian Shepherd, tries very hard to convince him he doesn’t.  She loves to chase Whiskers and Whiskers loves to run away.  Lets just say Kita is very lucky that Whiskers is declawed ; )

Jeff and I are both avid readers.  I prefer chick lit and mysteries.  Jeff likes mysteries too, but he’s not so into chick lit. He spends most of his time reading for school.  He’s in seminary working on his Masters in Biblical Studies.  I am a blog stalker.  So when I have time, I read my blog posts.  I’m subscribed to a lot of blogs, it’s embarrassing to admit how many.  Jeff is a blog stalker now too.  It’s like facebook, he held out for a long time, but eventually he broke down and now he has bloglines too.  You should go add us to your bloglines before you forget : )  Were both involved with our church, Common Grounds Community Church in Portsmouth.  If you’re looking for a church home come check us out!  It’s a very small congregation and they’re extremely friendly, so be prepared to be loved on.

I love my husband, our kids, chocolate, ice cream, and East Side pizza.  Not necessarily in that order, ha-ha.  Oh, and wedding cake.  I LOVE wedding cake, almost as much as Wilson loves trains. Jeff isn’t as into wedding cake as I am.  I don’t understand why, but oh well, more for me! If we’re photographing your wedding, please order a slice of cake for me!  I don’t really need a meal, I’d be much happier if I could just eat the cake : )

I (Jeff) love cooking for my family and friends, and it seems that much of my time that is not nose down in a book, or eye behind the lens of my camera is centered around the kitchen and dinner table eating and enjoying the company of friends and family. I am so blessed to be able to spend a large chunk of my time with the kids; reading to them; tickling them; and playing with them in general. Lisa jokes on me all the time by saying that she is living with four kids, not three, but at least I am house broken, sort of ; )

Lisa and I have very different personalities, which makes life very interesting and brings a wonderful spice and dimension to our work. While Lisa is quiet, patient and steady, I am spontaneous, boisterous and frequently the loud one (thats what Lisa says, but I just tell her its the result of too many concerts in my younger years). When people ask me what I do, I always tell them that I am first a husband, then a father-and oh yeah, I am also a professional photographer. We take our love for each other and people and combine it with a passion to capture peoples most precious memories and transform it into art that brings joy for a lifetime.
